About us

The Bridge Co-Net - a bridge for Afro-descendant families.

Since 2020, we work to improve the quality of life of Afro-descendant families in Ottawa through spaces for meeting, support and development.

Our story

Arriving in Canada in 2005, Vanessa Murengera, founder and Executive Director of The Bridge Co-Net, first navigated the immigration journey alone, then as a parent. Over the years, she discovered a reality familiar to many immigrant families: though resources exist, they are not always accessible, nor adapted to the experiences, cultures and realities of Afro-descendant communities. From that lived experience grew a deep conviction: to make the journey lighter for the new generations of immigrants. Since 2020, The Bridge Co-Net Inc. has worked to improve the quality of life of Black and Afro-descendant families in the Ottawa region.
